Mendip Ladies 1st 4 – 2 West Wilts

Mendip continued their preparation for this season’s league campaign with a straight forward victory over a hard working but inexperienced West Wilts  team.

An early goal from the returning Charlene Taylor eased any early nerves for the home side. Following a good spell of possession, Hayley Bullock increased the lead with a great shot. With Wilts limited to a handful of forays into the Mendip 23, Mendip continued to look strong. Player of the match Jess Smith made some super runs from midfield, creating good field position for Taylor, who bagged her second goal with a shot on the reverse.

Wilts took advantage of Mendip’s high defensive line in the second half to pinch a couple of close-range goals on the counter-attack, but these proved consolatory, as Jasmine Scott sealed the win for Mendip, nipping in front of the keeper to deflect in Taylor’s shot from the top.
