Ladies 1st XI 1 VS. West Wilts1st XI 1

18/10/14: Mendip travelled to Warminster on Saturday, and, having taken an early lead, were eventually forced to settle for a hard-earned point. Centre-back Anna Swift started the game brightly, and her determination to move the ball forward kick-started a super passing move which Fee Yim Phimunchat calmly finished at the far post to put Mendip ahead after just two minutes. Mendip continued to look strong for the next half hour, with Ellie Hudson and Sammy Chivers combining well down the right. Forwards Phimunchat, Charlene Vranch and Cherilyn Carey created a good number of goal-scoring chances, but they were unable to increase the lead before half time. The visitors started the second half as brightly as the first, but a second goal continued to elude them. As the game wore on, Mendip began to tire, and Wilts got a foot-hold in the game. Mendip keeper Carrie Tiley made several good saves, but eventually the pressure told, and Wilts equalised with a well-struck shot across the goal. The teams traded attacking opportunities for the remaining ten minutes, but neither side could find the crucial finishing touch.

The player of the match vote was shared by Ellie Hudson and Carrie Tiley.

This Saturday, Mendip face Wooton Bassett at Norton Hill (10:30am).
