22/11/14: Mendip succumbed to a second successive defeat on Saturday, conceding two second half goals without reply at the Queen Elizabeth Leisure Centre in Wimborne.
Mendip had the better of the early exchanges, with Jess Harding and Charlene Vranch putting the Wimborne defence under pressure down the left.
The home side gradually began to get into the game, but they found the Mendip defence in determined form, with full-backs Brenda Scott and Sammy Chivers both making some excellent tackles.
Wimborne took the lead early in the second half, when Mendip failed to clear a loose ball in the D and the left forward flicked the ball home. Buoyed by their lead, Wimborne continued to attack with pace, forcing a penalty corner which was despatched via a deflection into the bottom corner to make it 2-0.
The final quarter saw Mendip working hard to find a way back into the game, but the home defence stood firm.
Brenda Scott received the player of the match vote for the second successive week.
Mendip complete the first half of their league programme this Saturday with a home fixture against Salisbury (10:30am).
