30/1/16: Mendip put in a valiant effort at Norton Hill on Saturday, but were ultimately undone by their opponents’ clinical finishing and a number of well-worked set pieces.
Highlights of the Mendip performance included an excellent penalty corner strike from Emma Moffat and two well-taken goals from Sarah “Far Post” Pearce. Captain Lucy Hemings can also take great comfort from the impressive way her young squad adapted to numerous changes in personnel and formation, with Ella Constable showing particular flair, both in midfield and up front. Maz Veater earned the player of the match award, due largely to her amazing work rate and strong running from midfield.
This Saturday, Mendip travel to South Glos (1pm).
