29/11/14: Saturday saw Mendip 3rds travel to take on South Glos at Bradley Stoke. The previous fixture saw Mendip narrowly lose 2-1 so hopes were high for a victory. And so it was; all the attendance at training and growing confidence resulted in a fantastic victory at last!
Player of the match Madison Collins scored the first well-worked goal following excellent wide play by the backs and positive work by the halves. Only a momentary lapse of concentration left the South Glos captain Esther Legg-Bagg free to score an easy equaliser in a keeperless goal.
The arrival at half-time of Oenone Bodman-Harris put her straight to work with some athletic goal-keeping to keep South Glos to a single goal. Mendip continued their positive attacks with Madison scoring a further two goals, and Jasmine Scott nipping in a short corner strike from Emma Moffat.
A buoyed-up Mendip face Keynsham next Saturday, with a view to reducing Keynsham’s dominance on the score sheet.
