Ladies 3rd XI 4 vs. South Glos 2nd XI 2

6/2/16: Mendip travelled to Bradley Stoke on Saturday. Undeterred by the atrocious weather, the visitors put in an excellent performance to seal three points and secure a top four finish in Brunel Division 3 with five games remaining.

Mendip had the best of the early possession, keeping the South Glos defence on the back foot and drawing some good saves from the agile keeper.

The deadlock was eventually broken, with two goals in quick succession Sarah Pierce claiming the first and Abbie Sage the second. A third, scored by Maddison Collins, followed before half time putting the visitors in a commanding position at the break.

The second half saw player of the match Ella Constable dictating play from midfield, and it was not long before Abbie Sage scored her second of the day, taking Mendip’s tally to 4.
With the visitors committing players forward, gaps began to appear in the defence, and South Glos scored twice on the counter attack to make the final quarter interesting. Mendip’s youngsters responded well to the threat, playing some super possession hockey to see out the clock and ensure the win.
This Saturday, Mendip take a break from league action.
