Ladies 1st XI 1 vs. Wimborne Wayfarers 2

21/3/15: Mendip will count themselves unfortunate to have come away emtpy handed from Saturday’s game at Norton Hill. A brave performance, typified by the strong running and determined tackling of player of the match Meg Adams, was not enough to earn a share of the spoils.
After an even first quarter, Wimborne took the lead with a deflected effort which wrong-footed the Mendip defence. The home side worked hard to force an equaliser, with Connie Glover making some great runs down the left wing.

In the second half, April Callow and Ellie Hudson both threatened the Wimborne goal, but it fell to the experienced Hayley Young to find the crucial finish that pulled Mendip level.  With ten minutes remaining, and with Mendip looking odds on to finish the game strongly, a Wimborne forward fluked an unstoppable aerial effort to secure three points for the visitors.

This Saturday, Mendip travel to league leaders Salisbury, safe in the knowledge that they will finish no lower than seventh in WCWHL East Division, and so will maintain their league status for next season. Pushback at the Salisbury Sports Club is at 11:30am.
