20/09/14: Mendip faced a stern test of their credentials on Saturday, with a friendly fixture against a Buccs side who play their league hockey two divisions higher. The gulf in fitness and organisation was evident from the outset, with Buccs pressing high and Mendip forced onto the back foot. Despite some excellent defending by the Mendip back four, Buccs scored twice in each half to secure a comfortable victory. Mendip came close to reducing the deficit late on, with Hayley Bullock and Charlene Vranch both creating good chances, but the Buccs defence stood firm.
This Saturday, Mendip open their account in the West Clubs East Division with a home fixture against Bournemouth 2nds (1:30pm).
