21/11/15: Mendip held league-leaders Bournemouth to a draw at Norton Hill on Saturday, denting the visitors’ 100% record and consolidating fourth place in East Division. An excellent opening quarter saw Mendip create the majority of the chances, with Ella Sage drawing a number of good saves from the Bournemouth keeper and Kay Downey also looking dangerous up front. The opening goal came somewhat against the run of play, with Bournemouth slotting home from close range following a mix up in the Mendip D. Mendip equalised in the second half, with Charlotte Lucas putting the finishing touches to a super attacking move. The Mendip midfield continued to press for a winner, with Jess Harding working hard to cover every inch of the pitch, but the Bournemouth defence held firm. The player of the match award was shared by Kay Downey and Jess Harding. This Saturday Mendip travel to Wootton Bassett.
