Ladies 3rd XI 1 vs. Clevedon 2nd XI 8

16.1.16: Mendip’s season took a turn for the worse on Saturday, as they suffered a heavy defeat away at Nailsea. The home side were well-drilled and started the game at a high tempo, which Mendip’s inexperienced team were not able to match.  Despite the valiant defending of player of the match Paula Smith, Mendip found themselves 7-0 down at half time.  The second half saw the return of Mendip captain Lucy Hemings, and her presence made an immediate impact. Looking better organised and hungrier for the ball, Mendip showed their opposition what they were capable of, with a much improved display of passing and movement. Nailsea managed to score just one further goal in the second half, whilst Maddison Collins scored a consolation goal for Mendip late on, after a strong run down the right.   This Saturday, Mendip are away to Midsomerset at Wells Blue School (10am).
