Ladies 3rd XI 1 vs. Mid Somerset 2nd XI 2

19/3/16: Mendip hosted Brunel Division 3 champions elect Mid Somerset on Saturday, and gave them a real run for their money. Mendip took the game to their visitors from the off. With just moments played, centre forward Maddison Collins put the defence under massive pressure and forced the keeper into action. Mids took the lead against the run of play, when a mix up in the Mendip D saw the ball deflect in over the head of keeper Jenny Dallimore. Mendip then showed typically determination to force an equaliser, with Sarah Pearce making a great run to the far post to slot home. The teams were well matched up to half time, with player of the match Lucy Davis working particularly hard to get the better of her more experienced opposite number. Mendip continued to look strong in the second half, before Mids upped their game. After a prolonged spell of pressure in the Mendip D, Mids forced a penalty stroke which was neatly dispatched to put them back ahead. Mendip came close to a last minute equaliser, but the penalty corner strike was well saved. Mendip’s last league game sees them travel to Bristol Bluebirds on Saturday 2nd April (11am).
