Ladies 2nd XI 1 vs. Lodway 4

29/11/14: Mendip travelled to Portishead to face Lodway ever hopeful of a win to boost them prior to the Christmas league break. Mendip were the better side in the first half, having much of the attacking play. Good work down both wings from Emily Browning and Connie Glover ensured the pressure was kept up on the hosts. Mendip went into the lead midway through the first half with a classic Jackie Browning strike following a well worked short corner routine.

The second half started brightly enough with Mendip looking to increase their lead. Brilliant work from Grace Harding at right back who defended with dogged determination made it hard for the host to break through. Harding’s bravery and skill earned her the Mendip player of the match award this week.

It was during the last quarter of the match that Mendip came unstuck. They struggled to keep their shape and play with their usual discipline and in the process, conceded 4 goals.

Next week Mendip are at home in Midsomer Norton at Norton Hill School for a friendly encounter with City of Bath, 13.30hrs start.
